PaneDrop is a macOS menu bar app. Capture a region, pick the session from a list, and PaneDrop puts the image path into that session, or copies it for you where it can't type. It never presses Enter unless you turn that on.
Running several Claude Code or Codex sessions at once? Showing one of them a screenshot means finding the file, finding the right window or pane, pasting, and checking it didn't land in the wrong session.
Terminals and agents
- Claude Code
- Supported.
- Codex CLI
- Supported.
- tmux 3.3 or later
- Supported. PaneDrop types the image path into the pane.
- iTerm2 3.4 or later
- Supported, Attach only. PaneDrop types the image path into the session, and you press Return.
- Ghostty
- Supported, Attach only, on Ghostty versions whose AppleScript reports each terminal's process, once you allow Automation access. PaneDrop types the image path into the terminal, and you press Return. On Ghostty 1.3.1 it finds your sessions and copies the path for you to paste.
- Terminal.app
- Finds your sessions. PaneDrop copies the path for you to paste; it can't type into Terminal.app.
- cmux 0.65.1 or later
- Supported. PaneDrop types the image path into the session. With older cmux versions it only finds your sessions.
- tmux over SSH

- Muxy
- Not scheduled yet.
New in 0.9.9
- SSH remote
- Add hosts from your own OpenSSH configuration. PaneDrop lists their tmux panes, uploads the images to your server and types the remote path.
- History
- Recent Drops lists past Drops with their images and target. Search, filter, resend or delete them.
- Templates
- Save prompt templates and apply one with ⌃1…⌃9, or save a past prompt from History.
- Session shortcuts
- ⇧⌘1…⇧⌘9 pins a session to a slot and ⌘1…⌘9 drops to it. ⌘Enter drops to the last session that worked.
- Tab switching
- Jumping to a session on this Mac brings its own tab and window forward, or tells you which tab to open.
- Automatic updates
- PaneDrop checks for updates and installs only signature-verified builds after you choose Install and Restart. You can turn checking off in Settings.
- Telemetry
- Usage statistics are opt-in. PaneDrop sends no usage data until you say yes.
